The Game of life

Is it luck or skill? Talent or hard work? Why do some people or businesses perform better and not the other? What are the rules and stakes of this game? Who is defining all this? Are you taking this game seriously or casually?

In order to understand what wins in our world and why, I chose to learn how to invest. It’s the rule book of life which changes constantly.

For extra clarity, this is not about where to put your money, but solely on the process of learning how to invest.

Knowledge is Power
Investing.”

If this sounds intimidating to you, think of it as choosing a partner.

  • What is his job? What industry is this company in?
  • What kind of comfort does he gives you? What kind of product and services do they provide?
  • What is his personality like? What is the work culture of the company?
  • Is he able to sustain financially? What is the financial status of the company?
  • How does he treat your family and friends? How does the company treat it’s stakeholders(employees, customers, shareholders)?
  • Do I really need a partner? Does the company’s solution solves any problem?
  • Am I happier with him? Is the company adding value to the world or substracting? Is there any real value added?
  • Why is he bad? Why is this company on the verge of bankruptcy?
  • Why him? Why do people buy this and not that? Why use this and not that?

Through learning how to invest, we learn about how the world functions, how our society values a product, how emerging technologies changes our life, how successful leaders behave, how consumers behave, and what makes the dream work.

Are you able to see where this is going? Or is choosing a partner equally intimidating?

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”Arthur Ashe
